About GRASSA

The Garden Route Astronomical Society of Southern Africa (GRASSA) is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of astronomy within our community. Our mission is to inspire and educate individuals of all ages about the wonders of the universe, while our vision is to create a vibrant community of astronomy enthusiasts who actively engage in astronomical activities and discussions. Through regular meetings, educational programs, and public outreach events, we aim to make astronomy accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Founded initially in Sedgefield with the goal of promoting astronomical knowledge and appreciation, GRASSA has grown into a thriving community of passionate individuals. Our society organizes a variety of events, including stargazing nights, lectures by renowned astronomers, and workshops for budding astronomers. We believe in the power of education and community engagement to ignite curiosity and foster a lifelong love for astronomy.
