Today we take the precision of our calendar for granted, seldom considering the remarkable journey that made it possible. Yet the calendar we use every day is the result of more than 5,000 years of observation, mathematics, astronomy and human ingenuity.
From the earliest attempts to track the Sun, Moon and seasons to the sophisticated systems that keep our clocks aligned with the motions of the celestial sphere, the story of the calendar is one of continual refinement and discovery.
